ENTERTAINMENT

Live entertainment during the Gala includes performances by: 

  • FootworKINGz (FWK), a dance crew founded by Urban Gateways teaching artist Leida "Lady Sol" Villegas . FWK has appeared in the top 20 of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent”, on Oprah Winfrey’s new Rosie Show, and on MTV, including America's Best Dance Crew this April;
  • Young Chicago Authers, Louder than a Bomb 2012 poets, young authors who competed in Louder Than a Bomb, the world’s largest poetry slam competition held annually in Chicago;
  • Elements Contemporary Ballet, Chicago’s bold new dance company combining the beauty of classical technique with contemporary style; and
  • The Second Hand Three, a Chicago-based jazz trio featuring Urban Gateways teaching artist Michael Riendeau.

AUCTION PRIZES

You won't want to miss out on the thrilling array of silent and live auction prizes at our Art for All Gala. Remember all proceeds go towards arts education in Chicago, so not only will you win an amazing prize, but you'll support Urban Gateways programs, too!

Here are a few highlights from the live auction, so you can prepare for the bidding war:

  • Spiderman in New York
    Four tickets to Spiderman on Broadway, a behind-the-scenes tour, the opportunity to meet the entire cast, and hotel stay all provided in this fabulous package!
  • Behind-the-Scenes with Dawoud Bey
    The renowned artist will take you on a personal tour of his spring exhibits in Chicago, then join you and guests for dinner.
  • Memory wine cellar
    Take home a savory selection of wines chosen by our Board of Directors, each with a personal touch.
  • Dinner at the home of art collector Ruth Horwich
    Enjoy dinner catered by Food for Thought and a delectable wine tasting in the midst of one of the most impressive private art collections around.

Urban Gateways artists will also be featured in the silent auction with original works of art by Nicole Beck, Karolina Gnatowski, James Jankowiak, and Jeff Maldanado, as well as performance tickets, dance classes, and/or music packages from Chicago Human Rhthym Project, DanceWorks Chicago, May I Have This Dance, Mark Nichols, Piel Morena Contemporary Dance Company, and Tom Sharpe.
