Educational Philosophy
Teaching media literacy is about more than camera operation and tripod setup. In my lesson plans, I emphasize not only the nuts and bolts of equipment, but also the power and responsibility of media. I think it is vital for students to ask themselves: “What is media? How does it represent me? How does it impact me? How does it influence me?' Once students begin to be more conscious of media and images that surround them, they can understand where the media they create fits into the big picture. I like to say, “with a good tripod, a full battery and an awareness of the power of media, the possibilities of art are endless.'"Links
