URBAN GATEWAYS INVITES YOU TO CONNECT TO THE POWER OF ART

Experience a creative night of interactive art for adults and kids alike.

Thursday, June 17 from 6-9pm
Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington, Chicago
$150 per person/ $50 per child

ArtsWired 2010 will feature:

interactive art stations, where adults and kids alike will participate in the creation of a public art installation;
media art created by Urban Gateways students, including cellphone poetry and collage animation, that guests will experience through projections, displays and audio booths;
live dance and music performances by Urban Gateways artists, which will include post-performance workshops for guests in swing dancing and percussion instruments;
and a silent auction featuring artwork created by Urban Gateways students.

The event will be emceed by NBC5’s Entertainment Reporter LeeAnn Trotter, who is a former member of Urban Gateways’ Arts Forum, and will also include inventive food stations and a 50/50 cash raffle.

Collaboration with local artists

The exciting and innovative elements of Artswired 2010 derive from Urban Gateways’ collaboration with four local artists - Erin Foley, Jillian Gryzlak, Nikki Zaleski and Jesse Avina. They are all Urban Gateways teaching artists, as well as accomplished professional artists.

Urban Gateways is delighted that they’ve taken on the evening’s artistic vision from conception to execution - under the curatorial supervision of Adil Mansoor, Urban Gateways Artist-in-Residence Coordinator, and the event management of Karen Hansen of KarENHANSen Event Group.

Proceeds

The evening’s proceeds will support Urban Gateways, Chicago’s oldest and largest arts education organization, so we can continue to bring in- and out-of-school programming in the literary, performing, media and visual arts to more than 100,000 young people each year in Chicago-area schools, community centers and cultural institutions.
