Urban Gateways is the lead partner in nine Community Schools. Also called 21st century Learning Centers, Community Schools function as the academic, cultural and civic hubs of their communities.
In our role as lead partner, Urban Gateways collaborates with school administration and instructional staff, parent groups, community members, and the student body to develop programs and services that address quality education, youth and community development, and family and community engagement.
Together we transform the traditional school into a center for lifelong learning by providing programming before and after school as well as on the weekend; programs include academic enrichment activities, artist-in-residence programs, adult continuing education, and health and wellness workshops.
