The Birthplace of Rhythm

Performance Type:

rhythm1.jpgThree drummers from the Pulse Beat Music collective serve as musical tour guides as they journey with audiences around the world to study the history, language, anthropology and geography of rhythm.  The group performs rhythms and songs from the Middle East, Africa, Brazil, the Caribbean, Southeast Asia and other regions of the world.  These drummers, including John Knecht, Michael Tooles, Ashley Muenstermann, Jason Wolf and Susie Lofton, are accomplished musicians from Chicago who have traveled the globe to study a wide variety of music and cultures firsthand.  Students are invited to join in the rhythm-making as the show builds towards its festive finale.
