There are several ways to include Urban Gateways in your will including a general, contingent, or residuary bequest.
General Bequest: Through a general bequest you may designate a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate to Urban Gateways.
Contingent Bequest: A contingent bequest allows you to make a contribution to Urban Gateways under certain circumstances that you specify. For instance, through a contingent bequest, Urban Gateways could receive all, or a portion, of your estate, if all other beneficiaries pre-decease you.
Residuary Bequest: Under a residuary bequest, you can designate Urban Gateways to receive the remainder of your estate, after all other specific taxes and expenses have been paid.
Retirement Assets Citation
Donating your retirement assets to Urban Gateways is an easy way to make a difference in the life of young artists. By naming Urban Gateways as the beneficiary of your IRA, 401 (K) or other retirement plan you are able to give the most taxed assets in your estate to Urban Gateways.
The benefits to donating your retirement assets include:
- The ability to change your beneficiary if your circumstances change
- The ability to continue to make withdrawals during your lifetime
- Avoidance of the heavy tax burden that may fall upon your estate
Life Insurance Policy
There are two ways to donate a life insurance policy to Urban Gateways:
Name Urban Gateways as a Beneficiary on your Policy: By naming Urban Gateways as a beneficiary on your policy, the proceeds of the policy can be included in your taxable estate but will be offset by an estate tax charitable deduction.
Donate an Existing Life Insurance Policy to Urban Gateways: When you donate an existing life insurance policy to Urban Gateways, you will be able to claim an income tax deduction for either the tax basis or the fair market value of the policy (whichever is less) for the year of the donation.
