Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago presents
a brief history of ballet, modern, jazz, and tap dance followed with a
decade-by-decade progression of jazz dance starting in the 1920s. Audiences
of all ages are introduced to the many cultural influences of the art
form including its roots in Africa, New Orleans, and Chicago. A brief
question and answer session with the dancers concludes this energetic
and entertaining performance.

Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago was founded by legendary
jazz dance artist Gus Giordano. His dancers are company members and scholarship
students at the Giordano Dance Center. The company has brought the excitement
of American jazz dancing to audiences around the world, including Germany,
France, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, the Bahamas, Brazil, Canada, Japan,
and the United States.
