Ann Boyd and Ni’Ja Whitson tell the story of Genevieve, a teenage girl who has grown up without a mother and must go on a journey to “find her self.” The Sun and the Moon narrate Genevieve’s saga of a shipwreck, a panther that takes her into the heart of a strange land, and a croan who reveals the truth, but finally it is Genevieve’s personal strength and wits that bring her back home. This highly theatrical creation incorporates a scrolling backdrop, masks, puppetry, live music, and contemporary technology in the telling of a modern-day, mesmerizing fairy tale.
