The Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater
presents Spanish music, song, and dance through a variety of innovative
Spanish ballets, traditional folkloric suites, and fiery flamenco dramas
from medieval times to the twenty-first century. The dances are accompanied
by live classical and flamenco music complete with costumes and stage
settings. Ensemble Espanol Spanish Dance Theater is a resident
company at Northeastern Illinois University. Company founder and artistic
director, Dame Libby Komaiko, was the first American artist in history
to be decorated with Spain’s highest honor, “Lazo de Dama,”
by the King of Spain for her artistic, cultural, and education work throughout
the United States. The company has been acclaimed as one of the leading
exponents of Spanish dance in the world. |
